Spell checkers read letters.
Ortly hears words.

When you write a word the way it sounds, a classic spell checker gives up, or guesses wrong. Ortly matches the sound and the sentence around it.

Nothing new to learn.

Ortly sits in your menu bar. You keep writing where you already write.

  1. Type as usual

No new window, no copy and paste. Ortly works in the app you are in.

  2. Press space. It’s fixed.

The word is checked the moment you finish it, and fixed in place. A soft glow shows what changed.

  3. One backspace undoes it

Meant it that way? Press backspace once. Ortly brings your word back and learns it.

Whole sentences, too

With Personal, Ortly also catches the words that are real but wrong: there and their, a and à, ces and ses. A soft underline, one click to fix.

Works where you write.

Nothing typed is stored

Not by us, not in logs, not in analytics. Ever.

Passwords are skipped

Password fields, password managers and things that look like secrets are never touched or sent.

Cloud only if you choose

Personal sends just the sentence you are writing, to fix it. It is not kept.

“I’m dyslexic. For years I wrote my messages twice and still sent mistakes. I made Ortly so writing feels normal again.”

Questions

Does Ortly read everything I type?

It looks at the word you just finished and a few words before it, in memory, then forgets them. Nothing you type is stored or sent on the free plan.

Do I need an account?

No. Free works without an account. You only sign in to get Personal.

Which apps does it work in?

Slack, Mail, Messages, Notes, Safari, Chrome and most text fields. It stays off in password fields and password managers, and you can turn it off for any app.

Which Macs?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 26 or later.

French and English at the same time?

Yes. Ortly works out the language of each sentence, so you can switch in the middle of a conversation.

What if Ortly changes a word I meant?

Press backspace once, right after the fix. Your word comes back, and after the second time Ortly keeps it for good.

How is it different from a spell checker or Grammarly?

Spell checkers match letters, so they miss words written the way they sound. Ortly is built for phonetic spelling, fixes as you type, and works fully on your Mac for free.

Can my employer pay for it?

Yes. The Work plan comes with invoices, and in France it can be funded as an assistive tool (Agefiph). Write to us.
